CCG 202

This was the inspiration board over at CCG this week
And here is my take

I have no clue who the BG paper is by I must have cut the strip off lol
The leaves are WRMK white out
thickers and lily bee alphas
some paperchase owl stickers
the red pp is Daisy D's and the rest is basic grey
I painted the circle frame with acrylic paint and stamped with white some bubble wrap for a bit of texture
loved how the black made the colours pop (just like Fi's! lol)
Hope you like it

HMITM 176

When I saw Christmas I groaned, I can never seem to get any good Christmas pics and have only ever done a couple of christmas layouts. I found these pics of my neice that my sister had gotten done in a studio and she looks so so cute with her fairy dress and painted face.

So onward and the requirements were:

Christmas in July refers to Christmas-themed celebrations held in July. It's a fun time and because the weather is so much cooler, we can celebrate with those traditional foods that we cannot have here in summer. Well, we can have them here in Australia but it's generally way too hot that most of us celebrate with BBQ's, prawns and salad. So let's pull out our Christmas paper and embellishment stashes and put them to use.

Requirements:

2 + photos [at least 2]

1 x Christmas tree image, any size

5 x patterned papers, i.e., Christmas patterns,

5 x metal embellishments, and any other embellishment in increments of 5

I used fancy pants - Hot chocolate range that I got in a Scrapbook Nook kit and they went really well with my pics

PP x 5 - Fancy pants
1 Xmas tree image - I used a large stamp(manufacturer unknown) which I stamped onto copier paper and cut around then added some stickles glitter glue
2+ pics - 2 of my neice that I cut out
5 metal embellies - attached the little bells to some twine (and they jangle when you move the LO)
10 rubons
5 pieces of twine
10 adhesive pearls
I love these challenges as it really gets you using up lots of stash and quite often things that you have had sat around forever.
If you have never had a play over at HMITM what you waiting for! it's such a great way to get you using up older stash and thinking outside the box & with a new challenge every 2 weeks you will soon slim down your stash!
Hope you like

Once Upon A Sketch - july 15th

Another great sketch over at Once Upon A Sketch and I got right to it!
The journalling criteria was
Journalling Criteria : your journalling has to be a quote (handwritten, printed, rub on etc. ). As an option you can include journalling in the lines on sketch but this is not necessary.
HERE is the sketch
 my take on it

Used Cosmo Cricket - Togetherness range. On the border strips was this cutie little banner that was just calling to be cut out! As were the little rabbity things in the bottom right corner, & don't you just love it when a range of paper is a word you can use!!!
I confess that I had already misted this paper for a previous layout but didnt use it then and this time it was just what I wanted, oh I so love it when that happens so all in all this layout came together pretty quick for me. My quote is "Happiness is Homemade" how true that is!
Hope you Like it

CCG 200

CCG are up to combo 200! had to play along this week!

I drew inspiration from the Ice lolly and "Rocket Lollies" that are very popular here.
I gently tapped some small drips of shimmer mist over the page to represent the drips of a melting lolly
I dug deep into my stash and found the Basic Grey Oh Baby Boy range was a perfect match & incorperated the little rockets. I combined this LO with a sketch challenge that I found HERE
This is a pic of Leon and a young Rodney. Leon was a little hesitant to own a dog as he was allergic to them, I say was as he doesn't seem to be anymore and now we have 2 dogs! Having Rodney (& Peggy) in our lives is just simply "Out of this world"

Sassafras July Challenge

A great challenge over at Sassafras this month!
This was the criteria
This month we are mixing up our challenge, literally! The challenge is to mix Sassafras collections on your layout. I know I am most comfortable using all one line on a layout, and love to see how others manage to combine lines for a totally different look.

The great thing about Sassafras is you can save every tiny scrap and use them, I love alll the fussy cutting & layering it all up together. I used bits and pieces from 5 different ranges well 6 if you count the tiny sliver of blue that is above the picture!
The ranges are
1. Me Likey - scallop border at the bottom of LO
2. Monstrocity - makes up the majority
3. Serendipty - Hog heaven - the tiny orange owl
4. Woodland Whimsey - Arrow Sticker
5. Sweet Marmalade - the flower print behind the pic
6. In Stiches Blossoms - Earth Tones
I really enjoyed creating this lo it was lots of fiddle faffing
Hope you like it

HMITM 175

Here in the U.S.A., we're celebrating our Independence Day. In honor of that, I'd like you to use
** elements that include STARS (embellishments, patterned paper, etc.) and STRIPES (ribbon, patterned paper, etc.)

** a flag or banner accent
** and to play off the date we're celebrating, July 4, 1776, use:

7 - brads

4 - four-word title

1 - photo

7 - labels

7 - seven-sentence journaling

6 - patterned papers
Note: Your page can be of any topic or theme--it doesn't have to be about 4th of July. Have fun!

Here is my layout

1 Photo - Josh messing around with his guitar
6 Patterned papers - I cut a Star shape and covered it with strips of 6 different pp scraps for the stripes
7 Brads
Flags/pennants - I cut some pennant shapes that I tucked at the bottom of the star
4 Word title - The large title word was cut from the front cover of a pack of DCWV paper pad the other 3 words I glued onto the the stars
7 Sentences of journalling - I dont have the 7 sentences of journalling shown on he front I have written some on the tag that is tucked behind the photo
7 labels -  now that proved hard but I just about managed to find and fit them on
This is my son who was at the time balancing on the fence that surrounds the decking of the cabin, well needless to say Mr Wobbly fell off shortly after - I hasten to add that no guitars were harmed in this process lol
I really liked how it pops on the black. Hope you like it too

Once upon a sketch

This was the sketch over at Once upon a sketch
I really liked it so decided to play along this time.
There is also journalling criteria that goes along with the sketches over at OUAK and this time it was this
JULY 1st CHALLENGE
Journalling Criteria: Who is in the photo? Name the person in the photo and at least 1 fact about them. This can be personality, character, talent , achievement etc. but it must be at least 2 sentences long.

Used Fancy Pants Lilac house range and I must say I don't usually like papers like these but I am in love with this range, some petaloo flowers that I inked the edges of and added some Deco Ice glass glitter. I added some more paper fowers and a strip of adhesive lace across the center. The fancy cut flowers are from The girls paperie  - Jubilee. for the background I used a crafters workshp heart template which I used to both ink and stitch a border. You cant see it from the photo but I also used a versamark and a white inkpad to stamp some swirls in the hearts white space,  of course the obligatory butterflies with some pearls for the finishing touches.
