CSI case file 56 - solved

I think this weeks has to be my favourite case file to date, and the inspiration from the DT over at CSI was second to none! I highly recommend you go check them out
I really wanted to use the coordinates this week, Michele does such a fantastic job with them, but I got started on this layout and it went a totally different way to what I had first envisaged.
This was the case to crack this week
And here is how I solved it
My youngest who does pole fitness had the opportunity of a 50's style pole photo shoot and I am taking full advantage of the pictures!
I have been slowly doing her an album for her 21st which is in 2 weeks ack!!
and this is layout 20 of 21 the last one will be a picture of her actually on the day itself.
I hope she will like it
Anyways back to this layout
For my Evidence I used
Strings
Dangle something
Something translucent
Packet of little bits
Plain card stock
For my Testimony
Here I have a confession to make, for some reason I thought one of the inspiration words was "shine", hence my title and my journaling (which is a note to Poppy that is in the little envelope dangling from the large chipboard star). I have no clue why I thought this but I did lol
I also used the tag on a string prompt
Inside the envelope I wrote a short letter to Poppy telling her to always be optimistic and she will always shine in whatever she undertakes
I made a small shaker packet from a doily and vellum that holds punched stars and sequins. I stitched around the centre with my sewing machine to hold all the bits in place
On the right hand side I layered up another painted chipboard star with some vellum, I love the way it creates a soft shadow behind the star.
I also used a mask and some gesso behind the pictures for some more texture.

Once again I want to say Happy Birthday CSI & thankyou to the great team over there!

CSI case file 55 - solved

As the birthday celebrations continue this week over at CSI I found the perfect picture to compliment this weeks palette so just had to play along

My Testimony
My sweet little Peggy when she was a pup looking so cute and innocent and then not a minute later she was up to mischief stealing all the labels from the plant pots on the decking!
I used this story as my Testimony this week, one of the inspiration words was STIR and this picture stirred up that memory.
This was the case file
And here is my layout
My Evidence
Leaves - I used a cut file on my cameo
Diamond shapes - I put some paint on a harlequin mask and stamped with it and then stitched the diamond shapes on my sewing machine
Circles - I made my own mask by punching out circles and using gesso and paint created the background
tone on tone pattern - different blue paint & Gesso
Stitching - machine stitched the diamond shapes over the background
Plain white background - my absolute favourite
I got to use up some of my older stash too - Yeah!
The cinnamon behind the pic is actually an old MME Asparagus frame and the journaling card and scallop frame is also MME
the other papers are Teresa Collins, MME and Bo Bunny
The speech bubble is newer and by Studio Calico as is the Sweet tag in the right hand corner
Alphas are by Scenic Route, Lily Bee and Making memories
A few close ups
My Testimony is tucked behind the picture on this tag

My background and the gorgeous cut file from my cameo

Added a small decorative design to my journaling spot
I really loved this weeks case file
Thank you for looking

Sketch Time at Papermaze

Hi I've got another post up on the Papermaze blog to share with you today

I've got some of the pretty Basic Grey Lucille collection to share with you today
Basic Grey were some of the very first papers that I used when I first started scrapping & are like a trusty friend, this collection has a dressmaker theme to it and of course that can be adapted to lots of different occasions. I chose this baby photo in black and white that I think fits really well.
I also used some washi tape by October afternoon that matches these papers perfectly with the peachy oranges, along with some wooden embellishments that are very trendy right now

I chose a fairly plain sketch, drawing out the main elements and adding my own touch
If you choose to play along with this months sketch please share your creations and leave us a link in the comments we would love to see!

I chose to use these three sheets of the Lucille collection using both the front and the backsides

Last January kit inspiration

Got a post up at Papermaze today, thought I would share with you here

This months kit was so jam packed that when I came to making my final project I found I had some of the lovely cardstock left over
I decided to make full use of my new sillhouette cameo and used this adorable "owl box" cut file
I made up the box and then made some matching thankyou notelets to go inside.
after you have used the notelets you have a cute box to put a gift in
A great way to use the cardstock and the scraps from your kit.
I really loved this months kit and I know you will love yours too!

CSI case file 54 - Solved

Two posts in one day, it's a first lol

As CSI continues with it's birthday celebrations there was another beautiful palette with the added delight of a sketch by Page Drafts
This was the case file
And here is how I solved it

With so much snow in the air it was difficult to get a good shot of this one
I got messy with inks and mists and texture paste all inspired by a tutorial on 2peas you can see here and generally just picked things from my scraps pots I have sat on my desk (yes my desk is very messy lol)
The frame is by Crate paper, various alphas from Simple Stories Basic Grey & Lily Bee
Evidence
Tickets - Bingo ticket
Polka dots
Mixed Media background
Doodling
String
Testimony
I have some hidden journaling on a tag to the left of the photo and my title was inspired by song by The Cars
A close up of my journaling which reads
"This is me at 18, have no clue where but that doesn't matter. What's important is the happy smile on my face"

More Papermaze January kit

I'm here to share with you another layout with the Jan Kit
This time I pulled out the bolder colours in the papers.
Once again I went for the white background and the kit came with this beautiful ribbed card stock, that I couldn't wait to use.
The MME stickers were a perfect match to the American Crafts papers
I the large doily one up and used behind my picture
A few close ups

On my last layout I inked the hearts but they are also so gorgeous as they are so I left them plain on this one.
I love how the word stickers look poking out of various parts and I also used some to read "and so are you" under the picture

Thankyou for looking!

Papermaze January Kit (1)

I have a post up on the Papermaze blog today
Thought I would share it with you here

Jan Kit layout inspiration

Happy New Year to everyone
I got to work with the adorable January kit this time, it is so full of gorgeous goodies you just have to get one to play with.
I have created a few things with it and first up is this layout
I just loved the chipboard hearts that can be misted or inked. I inked this one using distress ink and when you are done it reveals a beautifully embossed pattern.
I love how delicate the papers look on a white card stock background and I even used the label from the sticker sheet as part of my title!
The full contents of the kit can be found in this post here.
Back soon to share more projects using this fab kit

CSI 53 - solved

Happy New year!
Wow that was a much longer hiatus than I anticipated, I hope everyone's 2013 has started well.
I am hopefully back to normal now after the Christmasness has faded til the next time, I wanted to pick a word for the year and it took me ages to decide, but I finally did and my word is TRAVEL.
I have a lot of trips planned for this year both spiritual and physical  so I hope this will be a good word for me in 2013.
My first share for the year is Case file 53 over at CSI, and before we go any further I just want to wish them a very Happy Birthday and congratulate Debbi for creating such a wonderful home for us scrappers!
I almost shied right away from this palette as it has the dreaded colour purple/lilac in it but I'm glad a persisted as it is a beautiful combination
This was the file
And here is my take, and the first page of my book of me that I plan to do throughout 2013, using my scraps and older stash.

I decided on 81/2 x 11 for my book and had forgotten how nice it is to scrap this size
My evidence
Flowers - the mask I used is a floral one
Metal - Arrow paperclip
Texture Paste
Fabric - I used gauze behind my picture  & my thickers are felt
Testimony
I wrote a Haiku

Sitting Quietly
Immersed in an awesome book
Is what I love best
I have used all the colours and then some got covered up when I layered my pic so I added a few small pops with the brads and epoxy sticker
There are lots of fun things going on at CSI this month why dont you investigate and play along
