Papermaze August kit

I always get excited when I see the new kit each month. This months kit on first appearances is quite girly but I have also created a masculine layout with it that I will share later on.
This time I got to play. I'm not a great one for flowers on my layouts but these went together so well that I might start adding some now and then.

It always helps to have a great photo to inspire you, I love this snapshot of my Granddaughter and her cousins walking away into the sun holding hands.
I framed the picture with the large chipboard frame, it had some text on that I covered with some of the MME tiny text stickers from the Collectable collection (that's a mouthful lol)

I then clustered the flowers around one corner of the picture, the wooden flower circles also add another texture to the page. I fussy cut some of the flowers and doilies from the papers and layered them up beneath the main elements.
I splattered a few different colour mists to create a softer background, finally I added the thickers title below the cluster to finish it off.

Don't forget to pick up your kit in the shop HERE

My first Bo Bunny Creations

I was up on the blog on Monday with my first creations with the new collections from Bo Bunny

You can see the whole post Here

I created 2 cards using the Autumn Song collection and some double dot cardstock

"I wanted my chipboard piece to be slightly longer so I simply snipped it in half, placed the 2 pieces back down with a gap in between and covered the join with my title sticker.

"The green banner piece behind the title banner had some text on it that I didn't want visible so I layered it up with stickers and cardstock to cover over the text."

This collection is a joy to work with and I hope you like my cards
Thankyou for looking

CSI 86 - Solved

Time again for a new case file

A soft pretty palette, and this week I used some of the fantastic co-ordinates made by the very talented Michelle Singh

My photo's printed out a little bright but as I'm running out of ink they were what I went with.
While visiting Debbi I got to visit my first real life Scrapbook Store, I was like a kid in a candy shop lol
We got the lady to take a photo of us holding our receipts. How did Debbi's get to be bigger than mine??
Evidence
Scallops
Art Mediums
Stripes
Dog accents
Transportation accents
Speech bubbles
Tie something
Vellum
Testimony
I used the inspiration words for my title Go, See, Do and then used those as bullet points for my journaling
Go - to the scrapbook store
See - who spent the most by comparing receipts
Do - Have a ball trying to win

I printed the journaling directly onto the speech bubbles, which took a bit of fiddling but I liked the final result

I used some Gelato's by rubbing them onto my craft mat spritzing them with water and then just placing the cardstock directly onto it, I then used a SC mask and some texture paste over the top
I'm very much still a beginner with gelato's and all things mixed media but I am enjoying experimenting I just need to get a bit braver now!

Sketchbook365 - September sketch

This year has just flown by, but what I have experienced of 2013 so far I am loving it!
Here we are with the September sketch for Sketchbook365
Check out the rest of the Design Team HERE

I had great fun with this one

My hubby loves to cycle & recently joined a cycling club where they do a 10 week 10 mile time trial. (The photographs are taken by Rich Lewton who captures some fantastic shots). I was scrapping this as he was doing his final trial and at that point didn't know if he had won or not, I didn't want to title it cycling champ or something and then he came 2nd/3rd. As it happened he did win but by then I already completed the layout
A few close ups
I used Little Yellow Bicycle - Vintage Summer for the background and MME Come Away With Me 6 x 6 pad for the rest of the page, with a small bit of Studio Calico and Simple Stories thrown in

I love the way the layering turned out on this layout

I love the little anchor brad, although it's not a water themed  layout to me anchors are grounded and that's exactly like my DH

CSI 85 - Solved

Wow this year is going pretty fast, I wish it would slow down a little. . .
Another case file and it's another fab one! and that means another chapter in Tracee & Debbi's Excellent Adventures
I do hope you're not getting bored yet!

Here is case file 85
And here is how I solved the case

This story had us in complete fits of laughter for ages . . .read below
and also take a look at Debbi's take it's hilariously brilliant

Evidence

Labels/Tags - Behind photo
Vellum
Numbers - numbered list
Something Clear -
I stitched acetate onto the jar and was going to fill it with the stars but ended up just gluing them on the top of the acetate
String
Frame - Smile Polaroid frame over picture
Decorative borders - I cut a speech bubble border from acetate on my Cameo
Something transparent

Testimony

My journaling reads

1. Put on glasses
2. Put on glasses
3. Walk around all day like this
4. Not notice that you are wearing both pairs at once
5. Almost pee your pants with laughter at the photographic evidence

This was the day Debbi, Farzad and I went on a stroll around Downtown Fredrick. We wandered around for a few hours snapping pictures.
Each day after we had been out I downloaded the photo's onto Debbi's computer. Whilst looking through them that night I spotted the "extra" pair of glasses that Debbi had been wearing all day long on top of her head, well when we spotted it we just about exploded with laughter.

I put a little spin on my title so that is reads Silly gl'ass'es. Debbi is such a goober that's why we get on so well, we are a pair of goobers!!!

Scrap Friends - August sketch

I've just discovered the sketches at scrap friends and I love them!
I grabbed some really old Bo Bunny - Paradise collection (from 2010)
Some of the colours in the collection were a bit vibrant so I just picked out the more neutral ones to work with

This was the sketch
I love all the mixed paper chevrons and had fun trying to get them all sort of lined up on my page.
This is how it worked out
As you can see for once I stuck quite close to the sketch.
I gessoed over the whole background paper just to tone it down a little and then added the chevron strips I left small gaps in between to try and compensate for them not all being uniform (I hand cut them all)
I'm quite pleased with how this turned out
I shall definitely be adding these sketches to my list of go to's

CSI 84 - Solved

This weeks case file, one of Em's fab sketches and another chapter of  Tracee & Debbi's Excellent Adventures.

Our picture this week is of our trip to the Zoo, here is Debbi's take (you have to go see it's so awesome)

This is mine, even tho it didn't quite go to plan this week

Evidence
Stripes
Fabric
Textured paper
Fringe
Pockets
Ribbon/twine
Circle

Testimony

(On the back)
We had planned to visit the Zoo while I was staying at Debbi's and we were trying to pick a fairly cool day, it was supposed to be cooler on the Friday so we headed off, but it wasn't cooler at all. It was so sticky and humid, We got to see lot's and enjoyed the seal show but after 3 hours we were exhausted! We didn't get to see the Panda's the one animal I really wanted to see, dumbo's we should have gone there first.

My title was going to be Friends forever, apart or together but for some reason I found the word escape and just tried to place it to see what it looked like. Of course it stuck fast and so I had to totally rethink lol
 some close ups
I cut this denim pocket from an old pair of my grandaughters jeans, it's so cute. The sun paper just appeared on my page, quite spooky as it matched the palette!

I used lots of layers and this lace was part of an old blouse that I cut up.
The flair button I got from Etsy, and I stamped the calendar stamp onto some acetate and stapled it to the page.

I printed the photo out in black and white and colour then I fussy cut me and Debbi and placed it over the black and white picture using some foam dots to raise it up slightly.
I did use lots of texture paste and mists on my background but as I did it all in the middle I then covered most of it up but I took a pic when it was in the "raw" stage

The rest of the DT and Guest Designers did a fantastic job this week Check them out here

CSI 83 - Solved

You might notice that there is a lack of case file 82, it's because I wrote it all out and then for some reason it didn't save :( With all the excitement of my Big announcement - Oh did I mention I made the BoBunny DT??? hehehe
I will post 82 sometime next week
Without further ado onto case file 83

A travel theme is just perfect for continuing to document my trip to Maryland

Evidence
stripes - stripey brad
labels
tags
travel accents
jewels
stamps
circles
punches - ok so this may be stretching it,
but I did use a punch to make the holes in the flag!
grid pattern
ledger pattern

Yay this week I got them all

Testimony
document a journey - either literal or figurative
This photo doesn't so much have a specific story to it (in fact we did this on the last day because we had forgotten every other time we went out) rather it is a representation of the beginning of many journeys that Debbi and I shared together

I wanted to add the little canvas covered chipboard car but it was a funky brown so I dabbed it with white Stampin Up ink to make it more fitting. The word go sits on a flag that was originally an oval journaling sticker then I punched some holes in the flag and used string to attach it to the back of the car. A little confession - I accidentally made a brown ink stain above the car so I went through my word sticker drawer and added some fun words from Authentique.
I wanted to replicate the map/brad embellishment in the picture so used a clock button by Teresa Collins and added an american crafts brad through the centre.
I cut the globe on my cameo originally for a different layout but thought it worked well on this one I stamped some text onto smooth white cardstock and added it behind the globe shape.

I love these bling circles as they sparkle without being to "pretty". I cut some corrugated chevrons to draw attention to us in the car. A little machine stitching here and there and I was done.

Hope you can join in with us this week we would love to see what you create from this case file
