Creative Scrappers 218

As always a great sketch

And my take
This picture of Rodney dozing on the back door step has sort of a pinkish tinge to it and these really old papers by Basic Grey matched it well, I was inspired by a scrapper whose work I admire very much - Heather Jacob - the queen of distressing and fab backgrounds go check her work out!
I had great fun creating the background with inks, stamps & stitching & I mixed the sketch up a bit replacing the 2 pictures with a couple of these old WRMK metal circles/brads and then moving the 3 banners over to the right. The threads came about quite by accident when I looked down I had inadvertantly glued some under one of the layers after cutting them off the back, but I liked it and so added more LOL
The team over at CS did an awesome job this week go take a look, but a warning: Be prepared to be heavily inspired!!

CSI 28 - Solved

This was the case file

And here is how I solved it

Loved the colours this week (would have loved to have used the co -ordinates too but my printer is out of ink) My sweet little puppy Rodney at just a few months old could not work out who this was in the Mirror lol
Evidence
Circles, repeat an element, ink, tone on tone
Testimony
Something whacky/silly
Circular spot , I journaled around the edge of one of the circle elements

and a couple of close ups

Where is the sun when you want to take pics of your layouts, I swear it sees me coming and runs off and hides LOL, will try to update with better pics soon

OUAS july - friends

I loved both the sketch and the theme at Once Upon A Sketch this month
This was the sketch
and the theme was Friends
                             This was my take

I am so lucky in my life to have "My Friends" my oldest friends and I have shared over 30 years of our lives together through thick and thin and I so hope that my children can find the same friendships in their lives

                                     Some close ups

I am rolling right along with Poppy's album now this is page 9 of 21 and I wanted to tell her how important friends are in our lives. I found this poem online and changed a few lines and words to fit what I wanted to say and then added it behind the picture on the layout.

It reads

Friendship is the kind of love
that will never grow old.
Warm and cozy it will stay
when other things are cold.
Friendship is a love so true
it will not be denied,
Because a friend will always be
close by your side.
Boyfriends and lovers come and go
in this game of life we play,
But a true friend, no matter what,
in your heart will always stay.
So hold these friends dear to you,
and never let them go.
Think how much they mean to you,
and make sure to tell them so.

I used some pretty Kaisercraft Miss Nelly collection papers and added some lace twine and bling. The "extraordinary" tag is by Authentique and the pennant "a very special day" is by Echo Park. I punched around the edge of the white cardstock with the Martha Stewart Cherish punch set
Hope you get chance to play along at OUAS this month there is some awesome DT inspiration

CSI case file 27 - Solved

This was the case file to solve
And here is how I solved it
Evidence
Gate/Fence
Leaves/Branches
Flowers/Petals
Sparkles (gems on the butterflies)
Woodland animals (ok so I streched with this one cos mine is butterflies lol)
Testimony
Journal in rhyme
My journaling is tucked behind the pic and reads
It just happened to be
A place by the sea
A beach for the dogs and a warm fire with logs
It seemed to be right
For a place to take flight
How could we know then,
It's a haven, a den
A small slice of bliss with a view not to miss
Glan Y Mor
A sweet Home from Home
I'm not the greatest poet but was quite pleased with that little ditty

A couple of close ups

I cut the "home" title on my cricut and used the negative which I backed with a strip of lime green paper
The wood veneer bicycle is from a lady on 2peas that has some absolutely great pieces for a great price

I made my own chevron mask for the background and then stitched a border on my sewing machine
My fence is a Memory Box die
I cut the MME journal card and used the title above the pic and the rest for the tag
Go check out the gallery at CSI for some great inspiration
