Papermaze - Focus on 6 x 6 paper pads

Today I'm up on the Papermaze blog where all week Wendy has been focusing on 6 x 6 pads ( I'm sure we all have some but how do we use them!)
There are plenty of tips here, here and here
I created a layout using the MME - The Sweetest Thing - Tangerine pad

I used another sketch from page drafts for this page.

One of the papers in the My Mind's Eye  6 x 6 pad has an elements page. I cut them out and because they are in a smaller print, you can add more of them to the page without it looking too overcrowded.

It might seem that 6 x 6 sheets could be too small for working on a 12 x 12 background page. To solve this dilemma,  I cut one sheet of 6 x 6 into 4 pieces and left an even gap in between each one. You can make this gap as wide or as narrow as you want.giving the impression that the paper is bigger than 6 x 6.
I used a vertical paper arrangement to cover the space,
The paper pad comes with two sheets of each paper. One of the patterns has a doily cluster that I wanted to use twice, but they had the banners at the bottom of the doily, pointing to the left. I wanted to use this doily cluster on the opposite side of my page, but I had the problem of the banners pointing to the left. To solve this problem, I cut the banners off, rotated the doily  so that the part I had cut off could be tucked behind the photo mat, and then I reattached the banners. These then covered the horizontal gaps in my paper.
The 6 x 6 pads are ideal for cutting shapes like banners. Because the print is smaller,  you can retain more of the pattern on your small shaped pieces.

Before I glued all my papers and embellishments down I inked them all with a black ink pad to give them a little more definition.

Wendy also has a great page and a giveaway to share with you on today's post
All supplies for the layout can be found in the Papermaze shop

Phew quite a long post from me but if you made it this far Thankyou so much for reading and as always I would love to hear any comments you make.

Halloween Gift Bags

Just a couple of quick Halloween gift bags for my Granddaughter and her friend
(would have been a lot quicker still if I had actually had some paper bags lol)
Not Filled with sweeties yet but I think they look cute!
The eyebrows are a spellbinders wings die, punched circles for the eyes and I drew on some veins with a marker pen. I put some black netting behind the mouths and then added their names and a punched black cat.

A close up of the names and cat
Hope everyone has a Happy Halloween

Creative Scrappers 232

Sadly this is my last post as a DT for Creative Scrappers as my term has ended. What a wonderful experience working with Kristine, the sketches and a wonderfully talented group of ladies!
I have had great fun creating with them all
This time we had a great sketch by the talented Johanna Rol-Middelbos
This was my take

This sketch has a very distinct circle element running across the middle which just wasn't working for me, so I made mine much more subtle with flowers and labels, I hope you can still see the sketch there
Once again I used EP for the Record2 - Tailored, I really love this line I think you can tell that lol
A couple of close ups
Loved this little happy face that was printed on the BG basics paper and didn't want to cover it up. The little banners are actually cut from MME, The sweetest thing, Tangerine 6 x 6 pad but the colours  co-ordiante well with the EP paper

I fussy cut some of the flowers and tucked them into my border piece, layering them up with pop dots

How cute is this little Mason jar that I cut from the packaging, as it is made of thin paper I adhere a little cardstock to the back before fussy cutting it out and it gives a bit more stability
Hope you have enjoyed my layout and there is tons more inspiration on the blog

Picking Berries - Echo Park

Happy Friday Everyone
I am back with my layout from the papermaze blog in full
This was my layout

This was the sketch I chose to work with as I wanted to scrap these fun pictures of my youngest daughter and my Granddaughter when they found some blackberries at the end of our garden.
The sketch is from a new (to me) site I found called www.pagedrafts.com and I like the lots of small picture sketches there
I started by roughly tearing my paper into strips using longer strips on one side adding strips of tape too, I tucked the pictures into the torn strips and then joined the 2 with the large gate sticker from Echo Park This N That Graceful range which you can find in the shop here (will list all supplies at the end). I like to add as many little embellishments as I can so I added some machine stitching, brads and more stickers from the sticker sheets. I usually prefer hidden journaling and so tucked a Journaling card down in behind the photo to write my story on. After stitching across the letter stickers I used the stray ends to tie the sign to the gate sticker so that it hangs across the gate.
You don't have to be to precise when tearing, as you can see I just tore randomly the width of the strip I wanted.

Hope everyone has a scrappy happy weekend

Paper Cuts - October Papermaze Kit

Just got back from a great time at my monthly Paper Cuts crop
We had the gorgeous October Papermaze kit to work with and it was a fab kit this month containing Echo Park & Kaisercraft along with some really cute embellishments
There are still a few left in stock HERE so grab one while you can
I created a simple layout using the kit and some of the lovely bits and pieces Kim always adds for us
I didn't follow the theme for this month which was confetti, but instead I came up with this
I took this picture from Poppy's facebook so the quality wasn't great when I blew it up a little, but I love this fun picture of her in glasses(who's they were I don't know lol) and I don't think it really shows all that much!
I took the EP for the record 2 borders strip and fussy cut the journal circles then added another couple of strips.
I used a Sharpie marker to colour the letters on the sticker sheet black, cut one of the dainty banners from the Kaisercraft save the date paper and added the embellishments and voila it was done ( I say voila in a "it still took me 3 hours" type of way lol)
a couple of close ups
Don't know if you can see these cute arrow stamps by Studio Calico  that I stamped along the bottom. Kim has the most wonderful collection of stamps that she let's us borrow, mmwahh love you Kim!

I stamped the small circle stamp that came in the kit and then couldn't resist adding some of the Prima packaging behind the picture

Had a fab time today!

Creative Scrappers 230

A quick one from me tonite as we just got back from our 2 week holiday in Wales and I'm pooped lol
A great sketch from Jenny this week with tons of possibilities, I couldn't wait to get stuck in
This was the sketch

And here is my take
I retook pictures of the layout as I couldnt get a great one while away

I also added the pins under the hero brad

I added some of my practice stamping in this little frame (don't like thigs to go to waste!)

I added some star stamps and was pleased with the new numbers stamp from kaisercraft, I also watered down some Mr Hueys mist and stamped some more stars

I used a negative space for my title and placed more of the waste stamping underneath
I also tucked the barcode from the MME acetate frame under the layers

I had real fun with this layout and love the look of stamping on my layouts and am going to try this again for sure

At the beach

Since I am currently at the beach (well not right this second my laptop would get wet lol)
I thought it only fitting that I create a layout about a certain dog that just LOVES the beach!
Rodney at his best playing with sticks in the sea
I did start off with a sketch but totally went my own way while still inspired by the sketch
This was the sketch over at Sarah's Cards blog
And this was what I came up with

And this is how it went
First off as I had EP for the record 2 here with me I wanted to use that
I love the blue and gold tones and thought they would work well with a beachy type pic
I liked the longer thinner picture and chopped this one of Rodney down, The arrow on the sketch inspired my triangle arrow border and the square shape I moved down to the bottom and the title up a level and this is how it ended up lol
a couple of close ups

I added some drops of Glossy accents to make it look like water splashes

I also challenged myself to complete in an hour and I almost did give or take 30 minutes!
I'm quite pleased with the result!

Page maps

Before I came away on holiday I bought the new Echo Park  the record collection kits (oops both accidentally fell in to my basket lol)
I created a page using the Tailored collection and a sketch from the page maps blog
This was the sketch
I used my own creative license and came up with this
The scattered doilies paper was just begging to be cut!
The backing paper is BG basics (just love that pack!), I added a few MME lush brads and a couple of pins along with some of the stickers from the sticker sheet, good old thickers for the title and I was done.
Poppy's album is filling nicely and I hope I can complete it way before my end of January deadline this is layout 13 of 21 so I'm well on my way!

CSI 39 - solved

Having a fab time here in Wales, been up and down the hill to the beach so many times I'm pooped lol, but did find time to squeeze in a little scrapping
I had a play over at CSI it's been so long since I played there and it was double the fun as they teamed up with another fave of mine OUAS
Here was the case file and sketch
And here is my take

This case file was fun, am scrapping with limited stash as I'm on vacation but I think I didn't do too badly.
Evidence; Rub ons(the bracket I rubbed onto acetate),leaves, bit n pieces, star book pages(well text paper lol)
The papers are Bo Bunny - country garden and I muted down the orange with a little ivory paint The black border at the top and the bottom of the pic is a lacy stamp by Jenni Bowlin

Testimony - fell down a little on this one as I hate my handwriting and no printer to hand I just wrote a brief description. I did sort of frame it with the bracket don't know if that counts!
A couple of close ups
I made the fabric flower a long time ago and found it buried in my tools bag, the perfect colours too!

I got messy with paint from my polka dot mask to the dry brushed ivory on the papers

This is another for Poppy's 21st album and the girls in the picture she has been looking after for almost 5 years, unfortunately they have moved about 4 or 5 hours away and now she only gets to see them occasionally or at times like this when they go on vacation to Scotland
Hope you like it
