CSI case file 73 - solved

Here is how I solved the fab case file for 73
Loved it so much I got on with it right away and finished in record time for me lol Love how some layouts just come together real quickly
I had such a blast with this one and took great inspiration from the DT both from this case file and previous ones - especially Rikka who creates such wonderful pages & does the most fabulous background work. If you're not already familiar with her work go check out her blog HERE

I got very messy with ink paint and stamps for this one
Evidence
Circles
swirls - I used tangled sewing thread
tone on tone pattern
something upside down - the owl is hanging upside down from the "record" journaling spot
birds
Testimony
I wrote my journaling directly on the page (amazed myself using my own handwriting for a change lol) in the form of directions
"Start at your favourite place along with your brand new bicycle. Be sure to be wearing the bestest jumper your have ever owned in your life. Pause for a mo for the camera. THEN. . . .Ride Like The Wind . . .Without a care in the world!

 A few close ups
These vinyl thickers were so old that they had lost all their stickiness so I applied some glossy accents just to the centre as I like the way they were curling at the edges slightly

I cut the "go green" sign from the inspiration picture as it was just so cute.
The arrow is an old SEI paper and the blue and white is from one of my notepads.
Love the arrow wood veneer by pink paislee from the Nantucket collection.

I didn't use a flag but was inspired to make this little kite that I tied to the front lamp of my picture. The love this speech bubble was cut on my cameo and the background paper is a shade or 2 darker than the palette and is by echo park from the dots and stripes range

I cut out my photo to get rid of the distracting background and as it was a really old scanned photo the colours were all off

This is a picture of me at about 11 years old. I remember this so well, I had just gotten a new bike and I was at my Nan & Granddad's house, they lived in a quiet rural area that I could explore to my hearts content. My jumper was hand knitted but was made of the softest wool with a hood and little pom poms on the end of the ties, I wore it for as long as I could and I have never owned one that I loved quite so much as that one. I loved the case file this week and when I found this picture of me it brought back such happy carefree memories of this part of my childhood
Hope you enjoy this weeks palette as much as I did!

I added a little orange to this palette, & I used the sketch

speech bubbles
twine
vellum
ink/paint splatters
Testinmony
use journaling on your speech bubble

A few close ups
I curled the twine to make a heart shaped frame for the center pic

I cut a little "puddle" from vellum and added it under my alpha stickers and although they dont show up to well on the pic I used the vellum splashes to the sides of the puddle

I added some Jillibean Soup journaling spots here and there and lightly gessoed the chippie stars

Sketchbook365 first reveal

My first layout for Sketchbook365 is up today
I was so excited to be chosen as a part of this team of talented ladies and couldn't wait to get started on the first sketch

Go check out the awesome talent from the rest of the design team HERE
This was the sketch for June
I rotated it left and this is what I came up with

I used a beautiful palette from CSI
Evidence
Vertical strips
metal
label
Testimony
role you play - I journaled about how lucky I am to have 2 beautiful girls both on the inside and out, and how they make my role as their Mum such a happy journey
I then tucked it into the little folder behind the small pics

Some close ups

I really mixed old with new for this layout even incorporating some ancient flocked peel offs!  The little folder was originally going to lift up so you could read the journaling but that didn't work out so I sealed the bottom edge and tucked a piece of paper inside it with my message to my beautiful girls

Love this "Lucky Me" title that I cut on the cameo, I also used my trusty machine for the date label and the girl icons

I hope you will find time to play as there is a great prize by Pink Paislee to be won

CLOSING DATE FOR THIS CHALLENGE: 20TH June 2013 at 11pm GMT

CSI case file 69 - solved

I had a busy week this week preparing for one of my besties 50th birthdays and a photo shoot with my youngest daughter.
So my layout was done over a few days in spurts and then by the time I was finally finished it was too dark to take a picture!
Before I share my case file I just want to show you my fave pic of the shoot, it's Poppy wearing my Grandma's fur coat, I can't wait to scrap it!
I know I'm probably biased cos she's mine but I think she is stunning!

Back to the case file this week, another palette that I love.
Here's my layout

I struggled with following the journaling prompt this week because I had a clear idea of what I wanted the layout to say
For my Evidence I used
Number accents
Circle Graph
circles
stripes
ledger paper
Jewels
add something completely unexpected - the brad inside the wood veneer camera is supposed to be a leaf but I turned it to look like a fish (think that counts don't you lol)

My Testimony
Well I rather fell down on that one but I did put some word stickers in the circle graph
My journaling is a series of questions and answers about the water ride that we went on when we visited a fun park on holiday last month

Thankyou for looking
