some cards

Got quite a few birthdays coming up this month so thought I would get ahead on the cards lol

I loved the colour scheme so decided to make a few similar
Used MME lost & Found paper pad that my friend was so incredibly kind to send me!

I also used a canvas watercolour notepad and cut the heart the dress form and
some of the banners out of it

The teapot is by Maya Road and is so cute

I used my most favourite doily die by cheery lynn too
Hope you like them

Designs by Diana blog hop

Decided to play along on this blog hop, I had lots of fun hopping then wanted to play along with the sketch challenge too

This was the sketch
And here is my take

It's Poppy's 21st next year and I want to make her an album.  As she suffers with a lack of confidence I want the pages to show her how beautiful and precious she is to everyone who loves her so these pictures she had taken on a recent photoshoot are perfect for the task!
A couple of close ups

I used MME, Sassafras & a little Ocotber Afternoon as well as 6 different types of alpha
I'm quite pleased with the result (it just shows how much stash I brought on hliday with me too lol)

CSI case file 16 - solved

Here was this weeks case to solve
and here is my take
I had the perfect pic for this week. I'm sure as most little girls do Star loves to get dressed up and imagine she's a pop star! She's got her Mum's jewellery and shoes on, her hot pink sunglasses and her most sparkly outfit on.
The pic didn't have the best background so I decided to fussy cut the pic and I fussy cut these wings out of an old sheet of Cherry Arte paper in my stash.
The Evidence I used was:
Sparkly things - Sequins and glitter
Shiny things - foil thickers and there is some metallic paper under the Star of the Show banner
Something sweet - well of course my little singing angel and I used the word sweet a couple of times
Testimony:
I went with the 6 word memoir as I loved that you could tell a story in 6 words.
Mine says "Singer. . .  maybe, but always a Star"

The rest of the DT samples were Fab go check them out Here

Before I go I just wanted to share this cute pic I got today of a little blue titperched on a branch but looking for all the world like he is in the middle of the sea lol

Case file 15 - solved

Loved the case file this week, especially the coordinates that the talented Michele Singh created for this case file
Here is the case file for this week

And this is my interpretation
I had so much fun with this case file I just adored the monsters and as you can see I couldn't stop adding them!
Evidence used
Monsters - (I added "googly eyes to them)lots of them!
Metal - lots of brads
Zig Zags
Stacking/layers
Transparent element - I used a Tim Holtz fragment to mount the word til on
Frame the page -I used twine all around the white CS
Testimony
Start your journaling "Let the rumpus begin" my journaling is my title it goes on to say 8 til late the wold bunch go wild! I have some general info about the layout on the journaling spot (from the coordinates) I cut through most of the shape on the end so that it lots onto the pp and tucks behind(hope that makes sense)
Most of this was from the coordinates but the chevron pp is by studio calico and the alphas are a mix of AC, Lily Bee & Basic grey
This wild bunch were our guests for the New years Eve party we had and I must say they were such a great bunch and we had a ton of fun!

CSI case file 14 - solved

I was very excited when Debbi asked me to be a Special Investigator at her great colour challenge site C.S.I.
Thank you Debbi, I am thrilled to be here
This was the case to solve

And here is my take on my first case file as special investigator #14
I wanted a sort of patchwork effect  with lots of sanded & distressed edges. I was so happy to finally be able to use the "Blessed" title as I have been hoarding it for ages.
 Evidence used was
Ruffles - I used an edge punch and then ruffled it and tucked it under various parts of the layout
Animal accent - the birds on the bunting and in the cage
Wet Medium - I inked all the edges and used some paint on the blessed title
Something sand like - I glittered the flowers that are tucked under the title
Create Waves - the bunting I thought looked like waves!
Sanding Technique - I sanded along the edges of the darker background paper before distressing
Testimony - I wrote a Haiku which is written on the "you" tag tucked behind the photo and it reads "From the very first day" "you have been a sweet blessing" "Life is now complete"
A couple of close ups
The title and glittered flowers
My Haiku

The front of the tag
Hope you will play along this week

AAM April Challenge

{AAM April Challenge} In The Now

This month's challenge is going to provide a very unique opportunity for all of us. My hope is that many will be able to participate because it will be an approach that all can relate to in their own unique way. We are going to scrapping about the NOW. Here are a few ideas to get your mojo going:

  • Current Emotion. Today. What exactly are you feeling? Is life so grand and you are walking a cloud? Or perhaps you are feeling flustered, upset or irritated? Whatever your current emotion is, scrap it. Use some symbolism. Grab a self photo that portrays that emotion.
  • Meal of the day. What are you eating? Is it your favourite meal? Or maybe you are fasting for medical reasons or doing a cleanse.
  • Don't want to scrap your food? How about your current physical appearance?
  • What about the weather or the current state of your house? Car? Laundry pile? The scenario in your house? Is the husband snoring on the chair while the kids have their noses to the TV screen? Are you in the midst of a killer family Extreme Monopoly game??? Who is winning?
See? It can be anything but the challenge is it needs to be about NOW. Not a memory to preserve. Not a hope for the future but what it is right NOW.

I won these lovely Bo Bunny Alora papers and I am so happy with the bright colours and fresh look they give.
I do have rather a long explanation for my layout so if you care to read I apologise for the lengthy ramble
When I first approached this challenge I asked a friend to give me a time and a date and then I set an alarm on my phone, so that I could record whatever I was doing at that time, so 15th March 10am I was just getting out of bed after a rather sleepless night due to "toothache"! So I decided that I couldn't do a layout about getting up but I could certainly create one about the thing that had been on my mind 24/7 for the weeks leading up to and beyond that day "My Teeth" an odd subject maybe but a bittersweet story of the past couple of months even years.
About 2 years or so ago I was unfortunate enough to have to have a denture fitted for my 2 front teeth, boy that thing was ugly, uncomfortable and downright depressing. Long story short My Mum offered to help me out financially in order to replace the plastic beast. So the past couple of months have been filled with dental appointments, pain & a whole host of other annoyances, but finally I have a Maryland Bridge and no more dentures which gives me a "Brand New Smile" & a lot more confidence to smile, laugh and pose for pics. So if you have made it this far you will now know one of my embarrassing secrets, but I am glad I was able to share the story behind my layout.
Hope you will all play along this month and check out what the DT did here there are some great ideas to help you complete your "NOW"

Scrappy Chics April Kit

I love MME and I was so excited to these gorgeous papers in this months kit (for a full list of contents go see HERE)

I love to fussy cut and so I deconstructed the paper created a wood frame and adhered it onto white cardstock, when I cut the detail from the page it left these nice edges that looked like broken wood on the remaining piece. I also cut the mesh bit from the edge of the sweet Maya road trim and used it to tie around my photo. I wanted the mulberry paper roses to have a shabby distressed look so I brushed  paint along the edges. I used a die to cut the banner from the Websters paper and draped it with some pink twine(not in kit)

A close up showing how I attempted to create my own crackle effect on the chipboard scallop piece> as you can see it didn't quite have that effect but I love the end result just the same
Will share more that I made tomorrow
