Purple Pumkin sketch

Whilst surfing the other night I cam across this great sketch at the Purple Pumpkin blog and since I seem to have a "thing" about triangles right now I had to create a layout using it. With a huge box of Bo Bunny goodness I got out the Modern Miss collection and I was all set to go.

This was the sketch
and this is my take

The colours in this collection are kind of eclectic but work so well together for a fun bright layout

I cut out the Love letters, leaving the faux stitched border around them, from the Modern Miss paper and used them as part of  my title.
I've got quite a few flair buttons and don't use them nearly enough but this one by American Crafts matched perfectly. I love adding a bit of my older stash to some current stash don't you?

I did a lot of machine stitching on this one, I curled the edges of the chevrons slightly to give them more dimension and then stitched down the centers. I fussy cut the film reels from both the 12 x 12 and the 6 x 6 papers to get the different sizes.

Simple Stories - Infectious

I am up on the Papermaze blog to day with this post

Hi Tracee with you this morning, when I got sent these Simple Stories, "A Charmed Life", papers this month I was so excited, as this is one of my most favourite colour combinations
My youngest daughter has been a bit down for the last few weeks and I wanted to make a layout that shows her fun and infectious sense of humour.

I used the current sketch from the challenge site Once Upon A Sketch
I cut the  3 x 4 Journaling cards element paper up before I started that way I could see whcih side of the paper I was going to use.

I fussy cut some of the elements from the paper and layered them behind the pretty lace trim.

There is great selection of mists in the shop and I splattered a few different colours to the background paper.

More of the lace and I cut one of the journaling panels from a 3 x 4 to write what I wanted to say on the layout.

There are so many elements to the simple stories papers and I will be back later to show you some cards I made using this collection

Supplies Used

Simple Stories A Charmed Life - 3 x 4 Journaling card elements
Simple Stories A Charmed Life - Whitewashed Wood
Simple Stories A Charmed Life - Happy Go Lucky
Simple Stories A Charmed Life - Happy Times
Cosmic Shimmer mist - Pearl
Cosmic Shimmer mist - Sunlight Mist

CSI 111 & Page Drafts

CSI case file 111 and this week another chapter in Tracee & Debbi's amazing adventure
We went to Michaels and found these chipboard words and thought it would be great idea to take a selfie holding one. Don't ask me why we were cracking up with laughter, we don't even know what set us off but this photo captures just how much fun Debbi and I had together.
I used one of Em's gorgeous Valentine reveal sketches that you can find here, there is still time to play along and some awesome prizes up for grabs
This weeks palette looks like this
coupled with this sketch (27.2)

I came up with this
I had great fun layering up the papers
Evidence
Animal accent
Polka Dots
Wood
Stickers
Sprinkles
3 of something (photo's)
Testimony
Tell the story through dialogue
She said "Look at those great chipboard words"
She said "I know but they are rather big"
She said "Let's set my camera on the shelf and take a selfie"
She said "Great idea"
She said "Hey. . . what are you laughing at"
She said "I don't know, what are you laughing at"
She said "I have no clue but in a minute I'm going to pee my pants. . . "

A few close ups

As I had randomly placed my layers I didn't want to move them again so i used quite a few staples to hold them together. I placed my journaling on a tag behind the photo and attached it to the "this & That" tab, I love it when you can use the collection name from the "waste" on the edge of the paper!

I sprayed my Freckled Fawn chipboard piece with some brown mist, it must have had some gold tones to it as you can see in the final result.

I used a little bit of all sorts for my cluster and even managed to get a couple of small flowers on there. . . Go Me!

If you made it all the way to the end. . Thankyou
Hope you get chance to play along this week, if not just take a peek in the Gallery and I know you will be inspired

Happy Valentines Day

I am up on the Papermaze blog today with 2 Valentines cards.

Firstly we have this one, using the lovely BoBunny Head Over Heels collection and some of their awesome new Washi Tape
I used the Black and White text print washi to create part of the background , I cut the puzzle on my cameo and enlarged the red polka dot piece to sit on top of the other pieces. I fussy cut the banner and the arrow and then used foam pads to create some dimension, as my sewing machine always gives me hassle when i try to do a zig zag stitch I used a stamp to create some faux stitching down the sides.

Next we have the vibrant Simple Stories, Hey Mom collection, which contains these stunning colour like this.

Not your typical Valentine colours but I love how this turned out!
I used some eyelet trim and glued it around the heart on the Love card, the letters and the Heart sticker are from Websters pages and I found some ink in a matching purple to ink up the Pink Paislee heart and layered it over my letters, quick and simple but "My Valentine" loved it.

Hope you all have a wonderful Valentine's day and get totally spoilt

CSI 109 - Solved & Once upon a Sketch

I combined 2 challenges for this weeks case file, and used the great sketch over at Once Upon A Sketch
This was the palette this week
and this was the sketch over at OUAS
with the theme
                                                "Totally addicted to...."
and this was my page, that is all about my addiciton and love of books

Evidence
Book Pages
Silver Accents
Birds
Stack Something
Use Heat - I embossed the pedestal
Mimic the architectural accents
Greenery

Testimony
I used a quote: (by Charles William Eliot)
Books; Are the Quietest and most constant of Friends.
They are the most accessible and wisest of counsellors,
and the most patient of teachers

this said exactly what I wanted to say so I went with that.

I did lots of stamping for my background, and as one of the pieces of Evidence was birds I took the opportunity to use my fave bird stamp by Tim Holtz.

Hope you find time to check out what the other fab designers did here, and after such inspiration you get to play along this week

Papermaze & Websters pages

I am up on the Papermaze blog today with a layout.

Hi Tracee with you again today sharing another layout, this time "project life style", that I created using some of the lovely Websters Pages recorded.
I've not yet gotten the Project Life bug but I wanted to create a layout with a Project Life type flair.
I cut some strips from the Rewind  & Today sheets and stitched them along the edges to frame the layout

The printed acetate frames make a striking focal point for your photographs, I added some of the stickers from the sticker sheet to spell out my title.
How cute are the mini frames?, with the simple addition of some word stickers and wood veneers your page is complete. I love how you can create 2 totally different atyle layouts using the same paper collection This is my post sharing the first layout.
All supplies can be found in the Papermaze shop
Hope you have a great start to the week and the weather is being kind to you, my thoughts go out to all those suffering the floods.

Art Journal

I recently joined a group on Facebook called Journal 52 where each week they give you a prompt and over the year you build up an art journal.
I have never tried one of these before but it looked interesting so I thought I would give a it a go, it's the perfect chance to get inky and try out some techniques that I havn't always got the nerve to try on my scrapbook pages.
I started with my cover and this is how it turned out

I started with a gessoed book page and just built it up from there with inks, mists texture paste stencils and stamps. After having so much fun with this page I then moved right on to week 1
-------------------------------------------------
Week 1 Prompt: Up, Up, and Away!
-------------------------------------------------

We’re setting soar to a new year, a new adventure, and a new story to tell!

For this prompt, think of some things that float or fly through the air – a hot air balloon, a butterfly, an airplane, a bird, clouds, or even a made-up creature from your imagination. Draw, paint, collage (or a combination of all these!) – what “Up, Up, and Away!” means to you. For some, it could be about finding your wings or learning to fly or letting go or setting dreams off to flight…whatever you can imagine!
This page represents reaching above and beyond my "limits" I am a great lover of quotes and I found this one on Pinterest "Reach High, for the stars lie in your soul, it was perfect for what I wanted.
The pages are sort of as quick or as long as you want to make them so I might have half a chance of having a 52 page journal by the end of the year! I do know that I had fun making them and will be creating more very soon

BoBunny mix it up - Everyday Heroes

I am just sharing this layout that is up on the Bo Bunny blog
A mix it up of 5 different Bo Bunny collections

I knew I wanted to create a masculine layout so I pulled elements from five different collections Pincushion, Woodland Winter, Zip Dee Doodle, Elf Magic & Kraft to show off this great photo of the Everyday Heroes, aka the men in my life, my Husband, my Son & my Son in-law.

I usually lean towards a light colour or white background, but this Handmade paper from the Pincushion collection has a slightly distressed look & made a great darker background and makes the other papers pop off the page.
In the Kraft collection gift Bags you also get a sheet of 6 patterned circles I added one along the banner to create a journaling spot.

I used a variety of stickers from different collections. The days of the week are from the Christmas collection, Elf Magic and the others from Zip Dee Doodle. I used a black ink pad and dabbed over the chipboard alphabet from the Avenues collection, this left a small amount of the original colour to make a contrasting edge to the letters. The Kraft Gift Bag has a fun moustache design and I also used it to create a pocket for some hidden journaling.

BoBunny Supplies:
Patterned Paper; Handmade, Sew, Toile, Patchwork/Pincushion; Cozy, Peek a boo, Journal/Woodland Winter
Stickers; Combo Sticker, Misc Me/Zip Dee Doodle; Misc Me/Elf Magic
Cardstock; Licorice/Double Dot
Chipboard; 12 x 12/Pincushion; 12 x 12/Avenues
Brads; Zip Dee Doodle
Buttons; Woodland Winter
Kraft; Gift Bags/Moustache

CSI 108 - solved

This week Debbi and I used the same pic and the same sketch and came up with 2 quite different layouts

This was the case file

And here is my layout, but make sure you go check out Debbi's HERE

We used this great Sketch over at Creative Scrappers

Evidence
Mixed Media background
Bird
Hearts
Flower
Newsprint
Border Punch
Rub Ons
Stamps
Penwork

Testimony
Tell a story you've never told before

The picture was taken in Debbi's scraproom and we were supposed to be scrapping but really all we had managed to make this huge mess on her desk, not one layout between the pair of us lol We are both slow scrappers and awful procrastinators!

The mess we had made inspired me to make a messy/mixed media background for my layout.
I bought the cutfile of the scissors a while back and really I wondered when I would ever use it, it fit perfectly for this layout and I cut and stitched a slit on the edge of the layout as if the scissors had actually cut it.

I created a pocket with a punched edge flap and layered it behind the photo, the brad & pins turn horizontally so you can lift up the flap and take out the journaling card.

Hope you will find time to play along this week it's a really fun case file
